DeGENERES CONFIRMS COVERGIRL STATUS
Comedienne ELLEN DeGENERES has landed a new role - as a spokesmodel for cosmetics giant CoverGirl.The chatshow host, 50, was rumoured to have signed a six-figure deal with the make-up firm last week (ends12Sep08) - following in the footsteps of R&B beauty Rihanna and Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore.DeGeneres has now confirmed her new job, revealing the news on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.And she couldn’t help but joke about her big news before making the real announcement.In the programme, due to be aired in the U.S. on Tuesday afternoon (16Sep08), she jokes, "You know how I always like to share what’s going on in my life with you all, and I was going to give you some news and, unfortunately, rumours started circulating all over the Internet."I am here to set the record straight right now. I am not pregnant. It just turned out to be a bump. I went and had it checked out." She continues, "I am the new face of CoverGirl", before striking a model-like pose and quipping, "That’s the first thing they teach you when you’re a CoverGirl." And DeGeneres is delighted with her appointment.She adds, "I am very, very excited about it. It’s a very cool thing, I’m honoured and the photo shoot was ‘easy, breezy, beautiful… CoverGirl’."
